Is it normal to feel completely invisible in giant lecture halls?

I’m a junior at UCLA, and I swear every time I walk into a lecture with 300+ students, it feels like I’m just air. Even when I raise my hand, the professor’s eyes skip over me. I’ve tried sitting in different spots, joining study groups, even going to office hours, but nothing seems to stick. It makes me question if I’m cut out for this environment at all. Has anyone else felt completely invisible in college, and how do you break out of it without burning out?

Re: Is it normal to feel completely invisible in giant lecture halls?

I’ve been there at NYU in a Philosophy of Mind class with over 400 students. At first, I felt like I was just a name on the roster. Eventually, I realized I had to hack the system a bit. I started using an assignment service when I couldn’t keep up with back-to-back papers, and it gave me space to actually participate in class discussions without crumbling under deadlines. When applying to graduate programs, I worked with a professional admission essay writer to make sure my application wasn’t lost in the noise. Even when cash was tight, finding an essay writing service cheap saved me from late-night panic sessions. These tools don’t replace effort—they amplify it, letting me carve a space where professors actually recognized me. It taught me that invisibility isn’t permanent, it’s just a temporary phase if you’re willing to use resources strategically.
