Hey!
I teach wood working (not STEM...yet...thankfully)in Cambridge MA. I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching and lesson plans. I surf as well and started building hand planes and I am hoping to incorporate some shaping in the near future. Anyway, I just want to say thanks for your contribution to the craft and I look forward to seeing your work in the future.

Hello Kuhnster, my name is Shawn Mac, and I am a STEM teacher at a public school in Massachusetts. I have recently taken over the \"old\" shop class, and have been exploring ways to incorporate wood working projects into my curriculum. I found your website and links useful, and want to thank you for making some of it public. I\'m teaching 5 different classes to 7-12th grade; all centered around a problem- or project-based format. Coincidentally, I also love surfing (in the cold waves of seacoast NH), and building/making stuff out of wood. I\'d like to connect with you (if you are so interested) and learn how you incorporate hand and power tool instruction as well as other shop management tips you may recommend. Thank you in advance!
Cheers,
Shawn Mac

I found your information while searching for ways to use iPads in Tech/Shop class. I am the PLC leader (and health teacher) at Willmar Middle School and we are going 1:1 iPads next year. Our Tech/Shop teacher is apprehensive about their use in class for a number of reasons. The first is that he is afraid of the iPads being damaged due to the dust and machines in his class. Another is that he says he can\'t find apps or other ways to use them in class. I am hoping you would be willing to share with me how you use iPads in class and any apps that might be useful.

Thanks so much for your assistance. Sorry if I sent this before as well; it just disappeared!

Mr. Kuhn,

I still fondly remember your wood working class from middle school. I put the skills I learned in your class to work when I do small carpentry projects around the house. This Old House was doing an AMA on Reddit today (http://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/comments/2ft6yw/hi_reddit_greetings_from_this_old_house_master/). I remembered your love of Norm Abram (and hatred of Bob Villa), how fun your class was, and that \"In the end it\'s wood.\"

Glad to see you\'re still going strong, and I wish you a good 2014-15 school year!
