Just curious if anyone is diggin these pic's? I've love taking them, and get all inspired when I post them, but not sure if any is looking at them?

Thanks,

I like them. Nanda, what diameter are the Albatross bars, road or MTB? Can they take bar end shifters?

Re: Dyn. w/ 700c WTB X-cross tires and Alba bars

Hi Marc,

Both chromo and alum Alba bars have mtn bike 25.4mm clamp diameters, and should fit RANS cf stems without need for shims. The Alba bars will take all traditional mtn bike shifters and brake levers, as well as bar end shifters and bar end shifters mounted on Paul Thumbies(mtn "size"). If you really want to go retro, get cork grips(also available from Nanda or Rivendell) and go with the Dura Ace bar end shifters.

I'm just trying to decide between the slightly heavier, but also slightly wider width 56cm chromo bar, or the lighter, narrower 54cm alloy bar...

Hey Nanda,

I love looking at all of the pics that you post. I was wondering:

1) Is there an easy way to downsize them to web viewing size, prior to uploading them onto your website? When browsing your site with Safari, the pics download full size, so a fraction of the image fills the screen. Interestingly, when I browse with FireFox, the pics download in web size, with the option to supersize...but I also tend to have problems loading your web pages in FireFox, so I try not to browse your site in FF.

2) Is there any way that you could make me look slimmer, and have my smile not look so dorky?

Keep the pics, Nanda! And keep up the good work!

Waiting anxiously to get "Alba-nized"!

Re: Dyn. w/ 700c WTB X-cross tires and Alba bars

Geoff, I appreciate your answers on the Albatross bars but I think they are inconsistent, or at least I'm confused. MTB bars away from the clamp are 7/8" O.D. and 9 speed Dura Ace barcons will not insert into their ends. They won't insert into the ends of the bars RANS ships with the bikes, that I tried.

So, is there anyone out there that has Albatross bars and has tried to mount DA barcons in the ends? Not on Thumbies (Thumbies come in either road or MTB diameter so I know with the proper Thumbie I can use barcons on a MTB bar).

If you go to the Rivendell site they say the albatross bars will accept barend shifters. Follow link below:

Thank you very much, Dan, for clearing up my confusion! Geoff was right on target - these are MTB bars with a wall thickness thin enough to accept barcons!

And I just pulled the end plug out of my old Scott AT2 LF MTB bars and a barcon will fit in these bars as well!
