Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

Hi all,

Please say hello to the newest member of our family, the Z-Nor'Wester (AKA Z-Muter, and many other names I can't print here). http://tvshare.eml.cc/photoshare/

My main use is commuting, so it has been customized w/ Avid BB7 disk brakes, Winwood dualist carbon fork, CaneCreek Strados wheels and Ruffy-Tuffy tires (not on yet). [and yes... I know you're dying to ask... Alba's are on their way ]

Many thanks to NANDA who did a great job suggesting the components, putting this together for me and shipping it up to Seattle. I'm only just getting to know her, but already love the view I get on it, along with the feeling I haven't had since riding my "sting-ray" (a few years ago.)

Happy riding, all

Tom V.

Hi Tom V,

Congratulations on getting your new Z Nor'Wester! Very nice pics! I especially like the Winwood cf fork with the BB7 disc and Stratos wheel...beautiful.

'Just out of curiosity--your seat is angled down quite a bit. Have you found that to be your "sweet spot"?

Nanda does do a great job, doesn't he? He built up my "Disco" Cruz, and it's fabulous!

I've been trying to get a hold of Nanda, so that he can "Alba"-nize my Cruz, too! I rode his "Alba"-nized Dynamik demo--fell in love with that bar and long stem riser!

Have a great time with your Z!

Hi Geoff,
Not sure if I've found the sweet spot yet for the seat. It does look angled down alot, but it doesn't feel (much) like I'm slipping down... just trying to get pressure off the hamstrings. Still experimenting tho.
Best,
Tom

Tom, that is a great looking bike. Welcome to the Z group.

Re: Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

Tom,
I noticed in your pics the front brake cable looks unteathered (sp). There should be a little piece of clear bra material (to protect the finish) up at the top rear of the left fork leg. Please use a 1/4" wide zip tie to secure the cable up the backside of the fork leg, to complete the look and keep that baby in check. The clear bra stuff should keep the stiff brake cable housing from scuffing up the clear coat under the pressure of the zip tie.

Enjoy eh,

~Nanda

Re: Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

What a keen eye! I had to detach it when messing w/ the brake and forgot to reattach. Thanks!
Tom

Re: Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

I forgot to mention the weight:
Including the disk brakes and my beloved frog pedals -- less than 24#!! (per crummy bathroom scale)

Re: Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

Nice bike there! You would think that any bike called a "Nor'wester" would have to have fenders.

Re: Introducing ..... (drum roll) .... the Z-Nor'Wester

Good point.... but during the "season" they tend to become irrelevant . I suppose it should also be "rain-slicker yellow".
