There were four stations called Pontypool in one form and another:

Pontypool (Crane Street) on the the old Mon Rly & Canal Coy Line

Pontypool (Clarence Street)on the Vale of Neath Line

Pontypool (Blaendare Road)also on the Mon

and the largest Pontypool Road, on the old NAHR

Photos of all four appear in Vol 1 and Vol 4 of the series by Mike Hale 'Steam in South Wales'(OPC) SBN 86093 112 9 and ISBN 0 86093 285 0.

Only Pontypool Road was ever rebuilt. Pontypool Road original station, South west of a road bridge, was replaced in 1909 with a new staion built on the other, North West, side.

At least one picure appears in each of Vol1 and Vol2 of 'Pictorial memories of old Pontypool' by Bryan Roden (Old Bakehouse Publications)isbn 874538 86 7 and isbn 1 874538 04 2

Hope this helps, mail me off-list if you need more help

Kind Regards

John Down
