Fw: New York Works radio series

Friends of Radio Diaries,

Here is a quick note to let you know about our new series on

NPR and WNYC.

Hope you can listen,

Joe Richman

Radio Diaries

www.radiodiaries.org

NEW YORK WORKS

Audio Portraits of a Vanishing City

94-year old Selma Koch runs one of New York's last old-style bra fitting

shops. Walter Backerman still

delivers seltzer along the same route worked by his father and grandfather.

Frank Sabatino is one of two commercial fisherman

left in Jamaica Bay. John Klein runs the last family farm in New York

City.

New York Works takes listeners to jobs that are slowly disappearing;

and celebrates people who keep alive an older way of life.

Featuring:

Walter Backerman, seltzer man

Selma Koch, bra saleswoman

Frank Schubert, lighthouse keeper

John Klein, farmer

Charlie Zimmerman, water tower builder

Caly Rivera, cowbell and drum maker

Frank Sabatino, fisherman

New York Works airs weekly from January 19th through the end of February.

NPR's All Things Considered: Wednesdays 4:15 and/or 6:15

WNYC's The Next Big Thing: Saturdays 3pm-4pm
