Re: Leonard Braun

Article:
Don't be so shy, Wilfried. Many of us know you and for those who don't Wilfried is a very devoted and talented feature-maker. Great idea to preserve Leo's ideas and views on a CD, illustrated by some excerpts which intrigued or charmed him, and offcourse some parts of his own work. As I suppose your interviews will be in English,it shouldn't be a problem for a worldwide interest.

I'm not a specialist in these matters, but I guess when proposed as a educational project (for students etc), rights to reproduce excerpts could be obtained easily and be considered as quotations.

IMHO one possible way of financing your project could be that the Features Departments or the Radio Training departments engage themselves to buy the CD for training purposes. But you should have a clear idea about production costs and how many partners you need to cover your expenses. I can explore what my station can do. And what about looking for a partnership with our Dutch colleagues of Borderless Sound in Holland (Grenzeloos Geluid) and presenting the CD on the next Features Conference?

I think we need first a cost-analysis of the project and then a partnership for financing and distribution. Great idea. And should be, for strategic reasons, available in April 2001. I support greatly the project. Who follows us? Who helps Wilfried who as an independent needs efficient support? Thank you, Merci,

Danke, Gracias! Edwin.

Replying to Original Article:

For those who don't know me. I'm an independant featuremaker (both in radio and tv) living in Antwerp-Belgium. Working in the media for almost 30 years.

I would like to produce a feature on Leonard Braun. Seventy minutes : Braun on documentaries, if possible with excerpts from documentaries he remembers from ex-feature-conferences. I would like to distribute it among collegues and media-students for free. Is somebody interested in financing this low budget project.

Best 73's and 88's.
