Hello Merlyn and Blessings,

I decided to hop over to your forum for this one as I don't reel comfortable with a religious based topic on the SL board.

I'm looking for some guidance in spiritual matters. I was raised Catholic, but I haven't been a member of the church for years. I find Buddhisn and Pagan/Wiccan faiths mush more to my liking, but I have never practised anything in this area.

My husband was brought up in his father's church (he's a minister) which is called Missionary Alliance. He doesn't really like that one and leans toward Catholicism, but to be honest, I'm sure he does so because he's desparate to the the proper "Irish" thing to be faithful to his roots. He has a hard time accepting Pagan/Wiccan beliefs and isn't too keen on Buddhism either.

Religion has never really been an issue with us, but now I'm pregnant, and we need to decide what is best for our family. I really need some guidance on how to go about this decision. I've been meditating and praying, but I am getting nowhere. I was hoping that you may have some ideas of how I can find the right balance in this situation.

Ok.. as for picking a religion... Well I would
have to say that I do understand as to your
what to do with the the 'new child' ...

I was raised Roman Catholic and I love my
religious roots but presently I am exploring
the wiccan/pagan and shamanistic aspects of my
spiritual nature.. My wife was raised as
Roman Catholic and Protestant. She has become
a devout Roman Catholic. We are spilit on some
spiritual issues ourself but we are Christian
first and foremost..

Yo and your husband need to sit down and look at
all the religions really close.. I do not want to
tell you what to do because it is not my place..
I do want to mention that the baby should be
baptised.. This is just my opinion...

What about looking at some Xtian groups
that you both like.. I like many aspects of
the wiccan and pagan and shamanistic religions
but I do find that many people lable me as
one or the other and I have been told many that
I can not be wiccan/pagan and Christian.

I say to them .. Go suck an egg.. Stop lableing
me your judgemental views.. hehehe...

Look in your heart as your husband's heart too..
You are very much in love with him.. Please
take that love and ask your higher being
what it wants to learn and seek.. This will
come to you in a dream .. Ask my dear friend...
and the Higher Being will answer you...

Sorry.. I can not be more helpful but I see this
as a very personal choice...

Just an opinion/advice...

Perhaps you should expose the child to many different religions, so when he/she is old enough, he/she can make their own decision on what they believe.

Forgot to add that I was brought up Jewish, but my family wasn't particularly religious....and I am becoming pagan/wiccan thanks to my pagan friend teaching me about it.

Thank you. I knew you would understand where I am coming from. I will continue to meditate and pray about this matter, but I am glad to know that it is possible to be Christian and pagan at the same time.

I will definitely be paying closer attention to my dreams. I've been disregarding them lately as I find them to be extremely weird and vivid since I got pregnant.

We are definitely going to have our child baptized, we have already asked our best friends to be the God parents.

That is a wonderful idea. I had completely forgotten that my mother (who works for the Catholic Church) had taken my siblings and I to many other places of worship as children so we could see other examples of faith.
