Re: Innovative Shower in a Bed

Marilyn, Have you marketed this in the US? I have worked many years in home health as and RN and have had several bed bound patients this would have been great for. Have you tried the Medical equipment companies, and is it something that insurance, or medicare would pay for? Thanks. sounds like a great invention. Jamie

Replying to:

I represent a South African company that has recently developed a device that allows disabled or bed-bound people to enjoy a shower with running water, while remaining in a prone position, in their own beds. The procedure is fast, efficient, hygienic and pleasant, allowing the entire body to be showered and the hair washed. No lifting of the patient is required.

In demonstrations in our own country we have enjoyed a very positive response from patients and nursing staff alike and have managed to shower patients attached to IV drips and catheters.

Our first MediBath model was aimed at hospital situations and it allows three to four patients to be showered in quick succession. However, our market research has shown a need for a more portable device for the home care market and so we have just developed the MediBath Lite that is portable - easily transportable and able to fit in to the trunk of a normal car.

We would like to introduce this device to the disabled and their caregivers internationally.
