Horse riding

I know that this question has appeared a couple of times on this site but I am going on holidays in August to a campsite out side Cambrils. I want to go horse riding with a friend but can't seem to find anywhere. I have heard about Hipica West Fork but i cant seem to get much info on it. Does any one have any idea what the place is like or if there are any other places you would recommend in that area?

Re: Horse riding

I am not sure what is happening with Hipica Westfork
But anyway...my neighbour Works with a stables near Cambrils, and when I see her again (probably tomorrow), I will ask her the details of the place, and also see if they have a website too.
Watch this space!!

Re: Horse riding

This place maybe worth a visit. Like Nick I am unsure whats happening there but its about 20 minute walk from Cambrils or 5 mins a car.

Re: Horse riding

I'll have to check more closely, AV...but when I go past there on the way to Mercadona, it looks like it is derelict? At least, run down. I'll get a clearer picture next time I go shopping

Re: Horse riding

Thanks, let me know! :)

Re: Horse riding

OK Megan!! This is the one I was talking about!
It is in the next village to mine, about 15 kilometres from Cambrils. Don't worry about getting there and back If you need me to, I will pick you up, and whomever else wants to go (only up to 4 people..sorry! Car is quite small!!) at your campsite and take you there, and come back and collect you afterwards, and return you to Salou. No charge, of course.

I go here now and then for the flea market on Sunday mornings, so I have seen the horses and met the people. I would recommend it!!!

Re: Horse riding

Thank you so much! But don't worry, we have a rental car! Haha

Re: Horse riding

OK!! Glad to be of assistance!!

Re: Horse riding

We've been to Hipica West Fork three times now (the latest last week in August 2014) when holidaying in the area and I can highly recommend a visit.

An hour's escorted ride cost 30 Euros per person - including free pick-up and return from La Pinedas - and the owners are both friendly and professional, having operated the centre for over 40 years.

I haven't been able to access their website and didn't get an email reply from an address found on the net and from this thread I was concerned that they might not be in business any more but on arrival at the resort a call to the number on a flyer in the hotel (609 280 484) was answered promptly and arrangements made.

I'm not an expert but the horses seem well mannered, well kept and eager to trot (as much as I'm capable of) on command. The ride we went on was through varied terrain, olive groves, pine woods and open land etc.

Their address is Carrer dels Garrofers, Reus, Tarragona, Spain, GPS co-ordinates on Google Maps are 41.110725, 1.116892
