E-LEANDRE IBAR. CHESTNUT (Diari de Tarragona)

Thousands of pedestrians crossing the road every day, which runs Salou from north to south. Among these people, many are, at one time or another throughout the day, doing it with lowered barriers and red lights, and a characteristic bell that indicates the proximity of a convoy.
Despite all these signals, each time there are dozens of people who venture to cross the road. The majority does so when the signals has just started and the barriers coming down, or in some cases, when they see the train is stopped at the station.
However, other people go through without the slightest care, some laden with packages, bundles and carts. Even some people continue their journey by bike or a stroller with small children without even stopping to look at both sides.
In fact, several accidents have been produced in Salou on the ground that a cart has been left stranded on the road and the victim, rather than depart, has been overwhelmed by a train while trying to unblock.
Opinions of all kinds
While waiting, pedestrians react in very different ways. Some stopped walking and, after a few minutes, cross the railway line when they see there is no trains coming or still not close enough. Others crossed without hesitation between the outrage of those who wait, they consider reckless conduct.
"I feel very bad crossing" Tutor says Marina, who has over forty years vacationing in Salou. His sister Maria Pilar also are against passing downs the barriers, "We never crossed. No way, it is very dangerous. " Others, such as Montserrat Casellas, say they should not cross, but "we are all brave." "It should be a subway or elevated public pathway," he says, although not known to what extent would solve the problem with this measure. "There are a lot of people going over the same route," confesses.
Others prefer to ignore the signals that do not allow passage. As explained by Aurora Sebastian, a neighbor from Logrono that spends the summer in the capital of the Costa Daurada, "we must always rely on having plenty of time to pass. Generally, if its look good, you do it, but more than one has taken a big fright and had to run back because the train was nearly there. Part of the rail road coming from the direction of Tarragona is very deceptive. I prefer to wait for the train to pass trough and then crossed the level crossing.
