Today I had to use this technique for the second time in my life both times it was on my children. I believe it saved their lives. I feel very lucky.

I can't remeber who taught me but I thank them and God they did.

I hope you never have to use it.

The first time my youngest child choked on one of the big round hard boiled sweets you get out of a tin..you know the ones covered in what seems to be sugar.

The second time my eldest child decide to put a long stingy piece of meat in his mouth without cutting it.
It wouldn't go up or down. He went about forty seconds without being able to breath.
By the time I'd done the maneuver several times the meat came up enough for him to pull it out with his fingers.
