We are coming back to Salou again this year for our hols in August but would like to venture out to Barcelona for a day trip this time.

We are a step family with children aged 1 yr to 17 yrs! Soooo what transport would be the easiest and not too pricy as we will be a party of 9!

We wanted to visit the zoo in Barcelona and maybe the fountains in the evening and anything else you would recommend for a family with children that we can fit into 1 long day out.

Also where is the cheapest place to buy tickets for the zoo is it direct at the zoo or can we buy cheaper promos elsewhere.

We do not really want a guided tour as it will work out very expensive for 9 of us so prefer to go it alone and use the public transport and buy tickets independantly.

We just wondered what transport train or bus/coach would be cheaper and easier to use with children.

As a rough estimate Plana bus company do Barca day trip to the Zoo. With entrance 29 euros per adult person. Say there are 4 of you 16 and over. That 116 euros... then 5 kids at 20 euros (estimated)... another 100 euros. So a round trip inc entrance to the zoo for 220 euros. One word of warning... no toilet on the bus and no stops... so when you are coming back be prepared for an 80 minute non-stop journey
