New Fusion

I've had the Fusion for a month now. Mounted fenders, a rack and a centre stand. Also added short, 153mm, cranks. So far I really like it. Yesterday I joined the local bike club on a 100 Km ride. They took one look at my bike and told me to grab someones wheel and try to keep up because they don't like to drop anyone. I stayed with the leaders all the way out. After lunch and a beer I fadded but still kept up on the way home. Keeping up with carbon fibre race bikes is not what I was looking for in this bike but its good to know it can be fast.

Re: New Fusion

Glad to have you out riding, and thanks for the biz! Some report being only 2 to 3 slower than their bents, and the fun factor makes it more than worth that speed trade off.

Re: New Fusion

amazing, i got dropped within about .3 seconds with road bikes. I think it is more of a commentary on my ability to ride really fast more than the bike, none of them took my cruz seriously but they all had a smile on thier face when they tried it.. I rarely saw them smile like that on their bikes.
I have more value for the smile than speed. That said I will be interested to see if the more upright geometry gives me a little more zoom factor.

I would have liked to see you riding up front like that, would have made a very serious Kodak moment.

Re: New Fusion

I'm about 1.5 mph slower on my Zen compared to my P38, Like Randy said the fun factor is worth it. The most interesting thing is my ave. has dropped the more I ride can't seem to figure that out. I switched tires last night so we will see if that is part of the issue. I don't think I'll be riding my 'bent much anymore, I'll take the yeller bike on tour in a few weeks that will really tell the story. We are going back into the same area we did a couple of years ago, lots of climbing, it should be fun.
