fusion off road

Hi, Here's my impressions after a recent campout and some off road Fusion riding.
The standard "it was harder than it looks in the photos" applies. I was really surprised at how well the Primo Comets handled a variety of conditions. Some of hills were quite rocky and steep, (although short), and there were some really muddy spots as well. Some of the single track had some really tight turns which was a non issue for the Fusion.
Bottom line is that I didn't have to get off the bike for anything that I wouldn't have gotten off my mountain bike for. Granted I'm not much of a mountain biker, but it made me realize that a Dynamic would be all the mountain bike I'd ever need.
Regards,
Bill Colgan

Re: fusion off road

I'll post the pix Bill sent on my site later this week.

On a similar note, I put a wheelset from a Dynamik Trail on my wife's shorty Fusion and had an excellent first time mtb outting with her. She actually held a good pace and bombed over some choppy rutted stuff without comment, so I guess the long and low wheel base adds a fair bit of stability and confidence. We saw a garter, a huge wild turkey (besides me), and 6-7 young bucks with fuzzy antlers all within a 100' section on our ride...just all part of the magic when riding off road eh. Nora felt pretty fresh at the end of the fairly flat ride, so next time, we will work in one of the longer climbs to start building up her legs for longer ventures.

I haven't tried the Fusion off road for myself just yet, but should get a ride in this week to answer a few questions I was mulling over. Next I might build her shorty Dynamik so she can stand up even more when necessary, but at 5'1" Nora is a Fusion addict

Can anyone say "Fusion Trail"

Re: fusion off road

The original trail riding I did with a CF was with the forerunner to the dual 26" Fusion. Needing a shock fork drove the head tube geometry to where we are today. If they had a shock fork that would work that laid back, it would be an interesting combination, however I think the WB would need to be at least 3" longer to load the front more.

Re: fusion off road

Not sure I'd want to mess with a shock at that angle. For slow to moderate speed exploring and for fitness climbs for the shortys in our lives it's perfect.
