My Own Fusion
I purchased a Fusion from the local bike store, Bikes on Howard in Hibbing, Minnesota. The CF arrived on my birthday and on a day between two snow storms..... Now, 10 days later, I have been able to get out 4 times on the Fusion and love the bike. Because of lower back problems, I have rode a ICE Trice T Trike for a while but gave a CF a shot this year. When I got the bike, I put Schwalbe Big Apples on the bike to increase the speed possibilities even more (sarcasm must be noted) and little else. The only weirdness I can say from riding the bike is the desire for my SPDs.... which, as soon as I feel more comfortable riding in the CF position, I am switching to.... By the way, the "aqua" green color I choose reminds me an awful lot of the Bianchi green I rode many years ago..... not quite, but close enough to make me remember faster, younger, leaner days..... May speed be in your feet and the wind at your back...... and if those aren't in play, may a bottle of Zin be waiting at the end.... |

Craig, Thanks for the biz, and try those SPD's soon, the lower seating position makes using clips that much more fun, since there is never any tippy-toeing at stops. Have fun, ride safe, post often! |

Craig, Congrats on your new Fusion, I know you will love it. Have you taken it out on the Mesabi Trail yet? http://mntrails.com/main.asp?SectionID=3&SubSectionID=16&TM=61660.66 Where the heck is “Bikes on Howard” to be found? I drove up & down Howard last summer & never did find it! (Edit: Guess I should have fired up the Internet - 407 E Howard St, Hibbing I was on the way home from Ely, with the Cruz & a trike in the back. I always like to check out local bike shops.) Rans paint jobs are the best! They shine, glow & some even sparkle. The color is deep, rich & well applied. Good Job Randy & the Rans Gang. Btw – CF’s work great in snow with Big Apples mounted. I’ve two 2” (actually measure 1.75”), on my new “L’il Red Bike” Street. The Cruz sports a big fat 2.35” BA on the rear & a 2” BA on the front. CF’s are a good contrast ride for trikes. Yes “...make me remember faster, younger, leaner days...” CF’s, Bents & Trikes will do that! Zinfandel makes for a great post ride toddy! Have fun with your new toy – Ride On! Bikes on Howard is on the north side of howard street on the same block as Binster's and across the street from the Brickyard. Their address is 407 East Howard Street. I have only been on a limited section of the trail so far, but sections around Hibbing have come through the winter in good shape. I was hoping to take the ride between Hibbing and Chisholm this weekend, but it looks like rain and snow.... As for clipless pedals, put them on yesterday... got the shimanos that are platforms on one side (for rides to work and around town) and spd on the other side for rides of greater distance. NOW, if I can only figure out how to get my golf clubs on the back rack, I will be a truly happy camper..... |
