Fusion, first few rides

I like my new Fusion, except for the seat. I still get sore quickly. I did notice that if I leaned forward and took a bit of weight off of my butt, that helped.

Question...when riding a Dynamic is the natural riding position such that you lean forward more than on a Fusion?

I have to find an answer to my butt problem. I need to ride a bike this summer, a lot to get some exercise

Re: Fusion, first few rides

I am still working the seat issue on my Citi. If I tip the front of the seat up, it bothers the underside of my thighs. If I tip it down, the plastic rim at the back rubs my skin too much. Currently I'm testing out some extra padding I've added. I cut up one of those foam pads that are sold for gardening (you kneel on it while pulling weeds). Slid the foam in under the Rans seat cover, so far it is helping.

Re: Fusion, first few rides

I just picked up the Fusion from Floyd, so I don't have any advice on the Fusion. My wife and I do however ride Zenetiks, so not far off. She took to hers right away and has never complained about anything hurting and she is riding faster. Her previous bike was a full recumbent. I, on the other hand had to keep tilting my seat forward until it quit hitting the back side of my legs. Once I hit that point, all was good. I still ride my Bacchetta Corsa, but most miles now go on the Zen. Not as fast, but just as comfortable and takes bumps a whole lot better. Most riders that try my Zen feel like they sit back "into" the seat, rather than on top of it. It works for me. My wife sits pretty much "on top" of hers. She likes it so I am happy. Neither of had to add any padding. Just some other thoughts.

Try raising your seat an 1/8" this will put you forward a little and take you off the edge of the back.

Re: Fusion, first few rides

My advice, and the previous poster may have meant this, is to try raising the front of your seat by adjusting the angle. This will put your weight more at the base of your butt, where your legs join your hips. I find this to be more comfortable for longer rides.

Re: Fusion, first few rides

Thanks for the advice. I really want to like this bike. Actually I really do like it, I just want my butt not to hurt. I haven't been able to ride it the last several days.........bad weather here.

Re: Fusion, first few rides

Raising the seat or tilt it up a bit will have the same effect, it will let sit a little more forward in the saddle, you have to tweak it a bit to find a happy medium for both your butt and inner thigh. It took awhile to find that sweet spot, that spot will have a lot to do on how well you climb

Re: Fusion, first few rides

I think you need to keep riding and trying different seat positions. I have a Dynamik and a Fusion, and I find that I tilt the seat forward alot more on the Fusion. I also would try to describe the feeling of being locked into the seat on the Fusion. I find that I am comfortable when I am not sliding off the front but have my behind sort of pushing into the rear of the seat. I really think you might just need to ride more and toughen up that backside:).. Try to ride some everyday.
Another solution might be to go up a gear and pedal a little harder ,dont coast alot. This will also get the weight off your butt and onto your legs.
The Fusion is a great bike. My son rides it more than me now but I love the way it tracks downhill at higher speeds. I have hit mud and still not gone down because of the great geometry on the Fusion.just put your feet down :).
