Alaska

Well the day has finally arrived. Tomorrow at 5:00 am (depending on my wife)we leave for Alaska. The Ford F-250 will tow our Airstream trailer and carry the Dynamik up front. I have found several Alaska and British Columbia rides, in addition I hope to ride in Oregon Washington and unknown places in Canada and Alaska.
Will the Dyn be the first one in Alaska? As I ride past giant salmnon and bears I will look for other RANS bikes.
If anyone knows of good rides in the area please let me know.

We might see Alaska indirectly this year, as in from a cruise ship.

Look forward to hearing and seeing about the big adventure.

Re: Alaska

Good news/Bad news -- BAD The dumb Ford truck broke down in Bellevue WA and we were stuck for a week while it was being repaired. GOOD -- While waiting the Dynamik set many speed records on the Merrymoor veledrome. Some of the records included me getting all way around the track with out getting yelled at by the real track riders. Actually it was lots of fun riding where I had no business. After I did a 20 mile cruise along the Samamish River the scenery was spectacular and a weeks worth of rain held off just for me. I am writing this from Toad River BC. Where we have seen snow rain and no sun but lots of beautiful scenery. I will post photos as soon as I can learn how to do them.

Re: Alaska

Hey Jim, not more car trouble on your 2nd new Ford PU. Hate to say it, but maybe it's time for a Tundra

Keep us posted as you get further north in to "eh" land eh.

Re: Alaska

Nanda - When Toyota decides to make a 3/4 ton Diesel truck I will own one.(maybe even a gasser) A 1/2 ton is not suited to pull my trailer. When I bought another Ford I wondered how dumb I really am but Dodge and Chevy just don't match up. Today am in Watson Lake, Yukon Territory and tomorrow is a rest day in Whitehorse Yukon where I hope to check out some of the local bike trails in the area. I will keep you posted.
Randy - I think you will get a laugh out the photo of me on the Dyn. on the velodrome. I will post it soon. This morning I had to stop for Dall Sheep and Bison on the highway.

Re: Alaska

We are in Tonsina AK, population about 6. Today we are going to an outdoor BBQ party everybody who lives within several miles will come which means there should be about 20 people. We will have Boar and Moose. Tomorrow we go dogsled mushing with my son and his dog team. He has 16 dogs at his kennel.
Dynamik riding has been limited by the weather but next week we will move to the Kenai Peninsula where the weather should be more cooperative. I got in a good ride a few days ago in Tok Ak, my first experience riding in snow. The bike gets a lot of attention where ever we go.

Re: Alaska

Jim,
Tok! I sold a bunch of planes to a fellow who ran "Iron Dog Sleds" from there. He was a really wonderful pilot, and total wilderness man, I will always remember his reasoning for buying our planes..."they are cheap enough to leave them hanging in the trees..." Glad you are having fun, ride hard, and safe!

Re: Alaska

Randy
I have been checking all trees carefully so far no RANS planes found but I will stay alert.
We are in Anchorage for a few days civilization fix. I rode a wonderful bike trail along the Anchorage water waterfront about 25 miles of terrific scenery and I saw a guy on a Stratus.
I have learned how to make a blog but so far all internet connections are so slow I have not been able to upload photos. I will keep trying. The address is " http://papaandmina-jim218.blogspot.com", most of it is family stuff but nothing secret. Anyone can check it and I will add bike photos ASAP.
