Just thought I would add my 2 pennoth to this debate. I think what Evo is saying is that the 'bigger' teams in the area are notorious for applying a hoover approach to players. They will scoop up as many as they can using the carrot of better facilities etc. in the hope they will unearth a few gems. What unfortunately happens is that some inevitably do not make it and this is where we come in. Hopefully those that don't make it look to North Berks. Unfortunately in recent years this is happening less and less, many of those discarded by senior clubs decide to pack it in as either their hopes have been dashed or they are embarrased to admit failing. Suffice it to say we will always be around for anyone who either does not make it or gets cheesed of with the negative elements of higher standard football i.e. the players that chase the mighty dollar, the all day trips away, the 90 mph 'football' etc etc.... |
