The new Pull Top book

Hello,
I just want to say an awesome job to everyone involved in make this book happen!!!!!I do a few concerns though.
In my opinion the values on some of the cans were not what i was expecting.I have been collecting since the early 70's now i was in junior high school at that time and i did have all the price guides and so on.
As we all do we have our favorite can or can's.So i have been finding some of mine and i do have some toughies no ultra rare zips or fan tabs or pulls like 007's or Playmates.Which i shop ebay and quess what i see 007's and a fair amount of on grade Playmates.
May i ask how often do you see a bottom opened 1+ condition Schmidt scenes zip top?In 3 1/2 years of ebay i have come up with 11 in 1+ to 1 condition and two in 2- condition.
I have also seen a good 40-50 007's and a good 10-15 Playmates during that time.
My point is the new book has a value of $30.00 each for the Schmidt's and 420.00-300.00 for Playmates and 400.00 for the 007's.This doesn't include the ultra rare white strip 007's which most of us will never see!!
Anyway i have other cans that i have seen far less anywhere than the above mentioned 007's and Playmates.
So enough of that.I could go on forever!
My question is how values come about? How were they determined.I love this book it is awesome.Again i just think some of the values were different than what i expected.
Any ansewers or opinions would be appreciated!!

Re: The new Pull Top book

I'd like to offer a different opinion.
I thought the values were a pleasant surprise for
my "70's Crap" cans ( as they were descriped elsewhere.) I can see the value in pricing them at the "current market value" using Ebay as the basis. It is my understanding however that their worth was determined by "experts". While a can may sell more or less than it's stated value, it's a great place to start

Pull Top Collector -
It's all about supply and demand. Sure, the unopened zip tops that you speak of may be more scarce than the 007's, but that alone does not equal higher value. Demand has to be taken into account as well. How many people are looking to put the Schmidt cans on there shelves vs. the 007 cans? That has to be taken into account.

There will never be complete agreement on pricing as people value cans differently, but the 007 cans will always be consdered "over-valued" based on the fact that they are in high demand. Very high demand + somewhat limited supply = increased value.

Re: The new Pull Top book

Hi,
Thank you for your input it is nice to see people have opinions.Don't get me wrong i do know the rarity of the 007's being basically test market cans and the Playmates being sued and all that.I do also know what the going price on a Schmidt zip top in 1+ condition is 125.00 to 155.00.

I really don't think the Schmidt's should be equally valued as the 007's or playmates but they could of had a higher value which would have shown what the are selling for in today's market.

The book did show me that some of the cans which i thought were low in value were higher which was also very nice.
