Salvia and Dilated Pupils -- NOT (spelling corrected)
It is clear that the teenager mentioned in the news article did not ingest salvia divinorum. Taking 10 days for his dilated pupils to return to normal is a clear indication of the ingestion of the triple-threat combination of alkaloids known historically as "belladonna" (atropine, scopolamine & hyoscyamine) The most common source of these alkaloids is Jimson Weed (datura stramonium). Jimson weed produces "concrete" hallucinations (i.e. hallucinations that are indistinguishable from "reality")and causes long-term dilation of the pupils. Most plants in the solanacae family contain measurable amounts of these alkaloids , e.g.:tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, eggplant, petunias, nightshade, tomatillas etc. FWIW |
