AFL Round 11

Geelong held off a determined North Melbourne on Friday night to grab a 13 point victory. Never really headed, the Cats couldn't shake the Kangas who put in a solid performance for no reward.

After leading up to half time, Richmond completely disappeared in the second half allowing Adelaide to trounce them by 50 points. The ever consistent Crows relished their second half freedom and completely dominated.

Sydney have overcome a large half time deficit to snatch another work horse victory against the flailing Eagles in the west. It never really looked like the Swans could win until half way through the last quarter. Their sheer determination, willed them over the line.

Hawthorn returned to the winning list by comfortably beating Essendon. Lance Franklin lead the way kicking 9 goals and was unstoppable up forward. The Don's rallied early and made the Hawks work for their win, but a superior midfield ran all over them in the end.

Brisbane have comfortably accounted for Fremantle at the Gabba. Freo perhaps got closer than expected, but the Lions were in cruise mode. Improving on their late season form from last year, Brisbane are a certain finals contender.

The Bulldogs have continued their winning season, easily accounting for mediocre St.Kilda. It was no surprise as the Bulldog's agression at the ball and tackling ferocity has impressed this season.

In the upset of the Round Carlton have pulled off a Brisbanesque come back against Port at AAMI, snatching an unlikely victory. With a 5 goal lead at the main break a seemingly dominant Port were cruising, but a completely effortless and lacklustre final term cost them another game. I can't see ordinary Port playing finals this season, just one year after playing off for the premiership.

Collingwood fought off a determined Melbourne to consolidate their surge towards the top 4. The Pies appeared to be cruising and stepped it up in a couple of short bursts, sufficient to win the game but without impressing.
