The Pies and the Saints kicked off the round on Friday by turning out a hard tackling, tough encounter. The Pies were just too classy in the end, prevailing by 9 points. The win was possibly more important to the maggies, and they both now sit on 4 wins a piece.
Down in Tassie Port jumped out to an early 5 goal lead against the Hawks and were on their game. Hawthorn lost players to injury and looked to have little chance of recovery. To stamp their authority, the Hawks lifted to another level, over powering Port and running away with a comfortable victory. It was a fast, hard tackling, red hot game.
The Tigers also jumped to an early lead against the Cats in wet conditions. Displaying their newfound talents, Richmond were quite impressive, before Geelong put the foot on the accelerator in the 3rd quarter, to ensure another comfortable win. Still in 2nd gear, the pussies are winning easily, oh no.
Brisbane came to Melbourne to tackle the Blues and never looked like losing. From the start they completely dominated the play, showing they are far more talented than the ever so slightly improved Blues. Brisbane should play finals footy this year.
In an atrocious, error riddled, lacklustre game, North have snuck in over the woeful Eagles by one kick. A game to forget for the Arden St boys, just take the 4 points and look to never play that poorly again. The Eagles on the other hand were as good as they can be, terrible.
Adelaide got to have this week's stroll in the park, winning the lucky dip and drawing Melbourne. As expected they won by more than 10 goals at home against the cellar dwellers.
Sydney destroyed a diminishing Essendon team, at ANZ Stadium. Sydney's relentless pressure tackled the Don's into submission who had had enough, a long time before the end. The Swans are a little up and down this season, but still show they are dangerous, when on their game.
Freo yet again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory, at home, in front of their own fans this time. I have never seen a team freeze up and stumble when facing a victory more often than this mob. It looks like a "media dream" over in the West this season. The Doggies continue on their winning ways, albeit just. Another game where they had to come from behind, showing a new resolve in the kennel.
