The Tigers have kicked off the 2008 AFL season with a 30 point win over the more fancied Blues. The pattern for the first two quarters was the Blues kicking clear in the first half of the quarter and the Tigers reeling them in in the second half. Carlton seemed to fall away a bit after half time and the big man up forward for the Tigers, Richo, stepped up booting 5 goals for the game. Carlton obviously lacked conditioning and many players fell away as the game progressed. Bursts of Judd brilliance excited the Blues fans but the Tigers were more determined and persistant and deserved their win. Although hard to judge after just one game it looks that both sides have not improved much on last years form. I didn't see anything to get enthusiastic about and at times thought the game was dull and riddled with mistakes, from both sides. At this early stage I wouldn't suggest putting any of your hard-earned on either of these teams making the eight.
