Could anyone recommend a book on Cornish Folklore?

Re: Cornish Folklore

There are a number of books on this subject. My own favourite author is William Bottrell. William lived and wrote in Cornwall at the end of the 19th century and his family can be traced back to the 16th century around Lands End. His tales were reputedly handed down through countless generations.

There are three of his books in print:-

Traditions and Hearthside Stories of West Cornwall, 1st series. ISBN 1 86143 001 9

Traditions and Hearthside Stories of West Cornwall, 2nd series. ISBN 1 86143 002 7

Stories and Folk Lore of West Cornwall. ISBN 1 86143 003 5.

Facsimile reprints are all published by Llanerch Publishers, Felinfach, Wales.

You may find copies on Amazon.

I hope others will contribute there own favourites.

You could also try Robert Hunt's 'Popular Romances of the West of England' which is online at http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/eng/prwe/. I think that Llanerch also produced a facsimile of this but whether it is still in print or not I'm not sure. The Llanerch Press website can be found at http://www.llanerchpress.com/.
